We will talk about why the litter in our parks is harmful to our environment, and how we can all unite to shift social behavior instead of just casting blame.

Trash Talk on FacebookPandemic Volunteers Keep Belle Isle BeautifulDue to this year’s pandemic, we have to forfeit our usual clean up season, including our annual Spring Clean Up on Belle Isle. Once restrictions on gathering outdoors were lifted, we put a call out to the community for volunteers and hosted a series of cleanups on the island.

In 2019, 2,077 volunteers removed 4,491 pounds of plastic pollution and litter from the island and its waterways. We are proud to announce that even with 1600 LESS volunteers than 2019, pandemic volunteers nearly matched, pound for pound, amount of litter collected.

This season, 455 dedicated pandemic volunteers removed 4,062 pounds – over two tons! Thank you to our volunteers for Keeping Belle Isle Beautiful, especially during such trying times. We salute you!
