Board of Directors Welcomes Erin Gianopoulos

We are pleased to announce the addition of Erin Gianopoulos to Habitat Detroit’s Board of Directors. Erin is a retired major in the United States Marine Corps. She is currently a third year law student at Wayne State University and she will be heading Habitat Detroit’s Veterans Task Force, identifying opportunities and programs for veterans living within our service area. We are very excited about this addition to our team and Erin has already dived head first into her activities and responsibilities as a member of the board.

Volunteer Highlight
Bob Layne
Bob Layne is no stranger to volunteers or staff of Habitat Detroit. After an illustrious career at Ford and a lengthy time on staff of Habitat Detroit, Bob stepped up to volunteer as the construction project manager for multiple projects this year at Habitat Detroit, including our Build CommUNITY event on June 8. Bob reached out to all of his friends within the Habituals volunteer group (an amazing group of core volunteers at Habitat Detroit) to step up and make all of these projects happen. Thank you so much to Bob and his leadership. We truly could not have accomplished all that we did without his guidance, patience and incredibly hard work.
Impact begins with you…
Mary Parker has lived in the Central Detroit neighborhood of Piety HIll her entire life. As a matter of fact, her mother is her next door neighbor. Mary has a heart as big as the world and has made it her life’s calling to be a foster mother to dozens of children throughout the years, many of whom have special needs. Mary has even adopted some of these children as well. Through the efforts of Habitat Detroit volunteers, Mary’s home is now safer with a rebuilt porch and stairs, and better equipped for her large and always growing family.

Because of generous support from sponsors like Lear Corporation, MASCO, and Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners these projects were completed and impact was created for hundreds of families living in this neighborhood.

You can help create even more impact. Donate a gift today to support the ongoing work of Habitat Detroit and help even more families, just like Mary’s.

We’ve got a chance to win up to an additional $25,000 for our cause as part of the Quicken Loans Community Challenge Detroit and we need your help to make it happen!

The charity who raises the most money during the month of August will win an extra $25,000. This challenge ends Saturday, August 31. Act now and support strengthening our neighborhoods!

Please CLICK HERE to donate what you can. It would be even more incredible if you were also able to start a fundraising team and share our cause with your network.

We really appreciate all of your help. Every gift goes a long way!
