Motivational Speaker Eric Thomas and Son Jalin Host FREE Triple Double Camp with Harper Woods School District
HARPER WOODS, MI – June 11, 2019: The Harper Woods School District is bringing world renowned motivational speaker Dr. Eric Thomas, and his son, Jalin Thomas, a four-year Michigan State University Men’s Basketball Manager, to Harper Woods High School for the launch of a FREE Triple Double Academy Camp to help Metro-Detroit kids develop skills and positive character traits for success, both on and off the court!
Jalin Thomas, an MSU graduate who has taken his basketball experience under Head Coach Tom Izzo to new heights with his own non-profit, is teaming up with his Father to provide a unique two-day learning experience for boys and teens ages 10-15, courtesy of the Harper Woods School District.
The Free Camp will be held June 24-25, 2019, from 9am-3pm each day at Harper Woods High School (20225 Beaconsfield St,) in Harper Woods, Michigan.
This unique Father-Son Triple Double Academy Camp reaches far beyond basic instruction, to cover the informational skill sets, both on and off the court, necessary to reach the ultimate level of basketball. The components covered during the course of the two-day Harper Woods camp will include basketball oriented drills, test preparation, character development, and business moral designed to help boys and teens launch a path for their future and stay sharp over the summer months.
“We’re thrilled to offer this extraordinary Triple Double Academy Camp to our young student athletes free of charge,” said Steven McGhee, Superintendent of Harper Woods School District. “Our district motto is ‘Excellence Above All’ and the kind of education, encouragement and tools Jalin and Dr. Thomas are bringing to our students with this program, aligns perfectly with mission to help students achieve their highest potential academically, socially and globally.”
The camp’s activity is based on structural basketball instructions from professional individuals, test prep that challenges the inner student athlete off the court to help improve test scores and proper studying habits. The camp also includes character development and life skills sessions, where successful self-made entrepreneurs, like Dr. Eric Thomas, who has inspired millions world-wide with his viral YouTube videos and weekly podcasts, provide information on topics including improving the brand of the athlete as it relates to learning, proper social media etiquette, being an athletic entrepreneur, proper investments, and critical thinking.
“Our goal is to stress the importance of capitalizing on all beneficial aspects the game of basketball has to offer,” said Dr. Eric Thomas. “Basketball in today’s society takes more than just being a great athlete. Jalin has put together an amazing program with regard to this, and I couldn’t prouder to work with him on this mission.”
All campers at the Triple Double Academy Camp on June 24-25 will be provided with lunch, a backpack, notebook, writing utensil, t-shirt and hydration. Registration is open to males ages 10-15. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. To register visit www.tripledoublecamps.com
