#MichiganMom Newborn babies to don crocheted red hats in February across Michigan #motownmom

BAY CITY, MI — Teri Holland’s hands have been very busy the past few months.

Since November, Holland has crocheted 70 little red hats for babies born at McLaren Bay Region hospital during the month of February. She is one of a small army of volunteers across Michigan who knitted or crocheted 4,000 red hats to be given out to babies born in February at 25 Michigan hospitals as part of the American Heart Association’s Little Hats Big Hearts campaign. The campaign aims to empower moms to live heart healthy lives and to help their children do the same.

Holland, a financial analyst for McLaren, learned about the campaign through a Facebook post.

“I’ve been crocheting and knitting since I was nine years old,” Holland said. “I wanted to do something good with my God-given talents.”
