The local, sustainable fried chicken spot will host pop-ups at Russell Street Deli and Grey Ghost

Honey Butter Fried Chicken

(CHICAGO, IL; March 23, 2017) – This April, Honey Butter Fried Chicken (3361 N. Elston Avenue), the fried chicken concept from Chefs/Owners Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp, head to Detroit for a weekend of two separate pop-up events. The chefs will host a brunch takeover atRussell Street Deli on Saturday, April 22 followed by a collaborative dinner with Chefs John Vermiglio and Joe Giacomino at Grey Ghost on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

At Russell Street Deli on Saturday, April 22, Chefs Christine Cikowski and Josh Kulp give Detroit a taste of Chicago’s beloved and buzzy fried chicken. The chefs will serve up their O.G. Fried Chicken Sandwiches with fried chicken, candied jalapeno mayo, and crunchy slaw served on a buttery bun as well as their fried chicken with honey butter and bourbon maple syrup served on a Russell Street Deli Waffle for dine-in or take out. Russell Street Deli’s regular menu will also be offered in addition to the Honey Butter Fried Chicken specials.

Following Saturday’s pop-up, the chefs take their talent to Grey Ghost for a collaboration dinner with Chef/Owners John Vermiglio and Joe Giacomino on Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. The 5-course dinner boasts dishes from Cikowski and Kulp including Honey Butter Fried Chicken Strips with smoked paprika aioli and honey butter chips as well as the Spanish-inspired dish Rossejat de Fideos with shrimp, chorizo, honey roasted cauliflower, and garlic allioli. Dishes from Chefs Vermiglio and Giacomino include a Tuna Egg Roll with wasabi peas, jalapeno jam, and cured egg yolk, and Pork Shoulder with bacon cure, asparagus maque choux, and cheese grits. The one night only pop-up dinner is offered for $60, and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 313.262.6534.
